Atland #243 - Braincleaver

We're back on schedule after my trip to San Diego Con. I'm missing it already...

I came up with the idea for the Pope carrying a special sword because I felt after 3+ years, Barry deserved to have a legendary weapon. (The fact that he'd kill the Pope with it was just an added bonus) I figured Barry'd earned a sword that WASN'T just another disposable blade. (He's gone through 3 or 4 by now I think...). Braincleaver will be Barry's iconic weapon from here on out. (At least that's the plan...)

This episode is the most re-written script I've ever worked from. In the end, it got so messy, I just gave up and rewrote it during the lettering stage. Normally I only do one or 2 little cross-outs as I'm working on a script.

Next week, Inky & Barry have a tense reunion...

Much the Miller's Son book3 page4

Hey guys! Sorry again about the long wait. Circumstances beyond my control prevented me from updating.

Also, I was at Comic-Con!

I'm so glad I got to meet Travis in person. I missed Nate unfortunately. I'm looking forward to future cons where I'll get to see more of you in one place (maybe a Wizards booth?).

Here's the new page, along with my usual promise to update regularly from now on.

Rabbit Girl: In Color

Grave Guardian

Animated corpses, magically constructed monsters, or some strange ancient race of warrior women, no one knows exactly what the Grave Guardians are…only that they defend their turf to the death!

Rabbit Girl

This is a possible cover image for a TPB collection I'm planning on doing at some point in time. It'll be a collection of a few of my shorter comic stories including those that were available in the Underground Pop Anthology as well as a few that haven't been seen before. It's all about consolidation folks and you can't go wrong with a sexy young lady on the cover.

Play Nice.

ZD #37

I made the format wider, and a bit taller. And I'm allowing myself to draw more loosely and with more of a free flowing ink line. This feels very comfortable to me and I hope it will allow me to work faster, or at least work with fewer roadblocks.

Bam.

Sneak Peek...in Color

A Sneak Peek

Yes, I said that I was taking a break from the comic making business but, sometimes things show up on your doorstep that you just can't say no to. I'll share more on that specific thing at a later time. Over to the left here is page one of a new, short fantasy story that I'm working on and I thought I'd share. It's like going home. :)

If you're heading to San Diego for Nerdfest; be sure to track down Wizard's Nate, Steve and Travis. They love to be stalked!

Play Nice.

Believe it or not I named this drawing without realizing the way it sounded. But you know, it kinda fits for a chainmail chick.

Jilli in Battle!

Jilli the dwarf warrior finds herself hip-deep in goblinoid trouble…can she beat, boot, and hack her way out of it?

Naturally.

So, should I color this or leave it black and white?

Atland #242 - COWARD!

There will be NO NEW EPISODE NEXT WEEK (7/23). I will be @ San Diego Comic Con. As of right now I'm scheduled to do one signing at the Dark Horse booth on Thursday (7/23) at 3pm with the ALIENS/PREDATOR team. Stop by and say "hi".

If you miss me at the signing, I will be walking around the con in a Blambot t-shirt:

Not much to say about this episode other than I love drawing that big horn head. He's probably got a brain the size of a house cat, but he's kind of lovable.

So, in 2 weeks, the Barry & Dwarf Pope finale!

Screeching through the midnight sky with hair of white flame and divine wrath in her fingertips the Kreeganashi is the vessel of pure natural wrath. Fear her when the skies grow dark and a painful tingle runs down your spine.

Brognogs!

Deep in the dungeons dwell many a strange creature. Brognogs (or mouth-suckers as some call them) feed on any living tissue they can get their teeth into. On the menu today is tasty elf flesh…but will this dinner melt in their mouths or cut off their hands??

(you know…it’s kinda hard to write campy blurbs…)

Blood Red Comics Relaunch

Gave bloodredcomics.com a facelift. Going to a blog format allows me to post more frequently and actually say some crap about it. Galleries will probably stay as they were, with new ones hopefully on the horizon.

I'm going to try to keep the main page PG-13 and reserve all the nudie stuff for the galleries. I dislike that sort of self-censorship because I believe it only encourages unhealthy attitudes but at this point I'm more interested in getting some momentum than pushing the content of the envelope.

Anyway, do check it out if you enjoy chainmail chicks galore!

Old Friends

Atland #241 - Singing Monkeys

I have to be honest. The whole reason I came up with General Bron was so that Bruce would have a worthy adversary here at the end of our tale. I have to say, I have grown fond of his honorable view of combat (I based the Simian culture on Klingons, obviously...). He's sort of the least bad guy amongst the real bad guys. He's grown on me.

The Singing Monkeys joke was totally added at the last minute. The original lines there were supposed to be macho posturing stuff. But as I was typing the dialogue I suddenly realized how funny the image of singing monkeys would be.

We're getting really close to the end now. I'm guessing about a dozen episodes left to Season 1. I'm really sick of drawing snow at this point. I'm dreaming of drawing the perpetually-autumnal forests of the Northlands that wait for us in Season 2. Speaking of... I'm doing a ton of concept art for Season 2. I have so many fun characters and places I can't wait to show you.

Next week, we rejoin Barry & the Dwarf Pope as they get into their own final showdown.

guess i missed a few days sorry

here are a few days i missed- i am sorry but we are all up to date now

Cowboys, Aliens and a Break

I'm looking to take a step back here in the world of comics for a little bit as I deal with some "real life" issues. I'm currently working on a backup story for the second miniseries of the Misadventures of Clark and Jefferson, written by my friend Jay Carvajal, which will be coming out from APE Entertainment. If you haven't checked out the first mini, I recommend that you do. After that's completed I'm looking to take a little break as I mentioned above. I'll still pop up here to harass my fellow Wizard's of Ur but my comic creating output will be on hold for a little bit.

Play Nice.

Atland #240 - Stand Aside

Big showdown beginning! Tad's got too much courage for his own good. It's how I picture Bruce must have been as a kid before his battlefield skill caught up with his mouth. (You'll see how much of a wise-ass Bruce can be next week!)

Well, I'm back from my weekend trip to NYC. I visited both Marvel and DC Comics and had a great time. Ate at lots of cool restaurants: Les Halle and Katz's deli amongst them.

Came back with a massive head cold. Ugh. I feel awful. All I want to do is go to sleep...

Next week, Bruce and Bron get it on!

A programming note, there will be no new episode the week of the 23rd. I will be flying cross country to the San Diego Comic Con.

I'm going to go drill holes in my skull to relieve this sinus pressure.
