Atland #272 - Plague Squad

Barry...three years later! Poor guy. This is what happens to great heroes who try to live normal lives. They just don't fit in very well. Daily life isn't in their skill set.

I figured the Plague Squad would be the perfect job for Barry -- I don't think he can get the Plague himself. Day in, day out, hauling corpses...and and from the town of Oakholme to the cemetery nearby.

Next week, poor Mrs. Parsons learns the hard facts of life...and mother nature has other plans for Barry.

In other news, there is an unofficial ATLAND Facebook fan page:!/pages/ATLAND ... 094?ref=nf
(Note, I didn't create this was presumably set up by a fan...)

Coming Off the flu- but I am still alive and kicking:)

Wondercon is this week and if you are in San Fran come visit our table at 514- FREE SKETCHES for all.

Plus got this weeks update done and I am excited not because this piece has a lot of action but because i kept the continuity of the kitchen from issue 1. Which for an artist is really important trying to remember all the details of a room:)

Next update might be late thursday- due to traveling and setting up.

See ya around.

Atland #271 - The Vortex Skull we know who Nessa has business with...and it's not the Orcs...

Back when our heroes visited the town of Spider's Web (someone else can find the exact episode, if they're so inclined...) I really started getting the idea for this whole opening scene for Season 2. So I made sure that Barry picked up the shield will the vortex skull and held on to it for the remaining episodes. That way, I could connect it to Nessa later on. Continuity, baby!

Next week, the Plague Wagon...

And in other news, I just got an e-mail from my college saying the Art Dept. has nominated me for this year's Alumni Honor Roll. Huh!

It's not much but, finally I can share an image from the game I've been working on for the last few months. We're close to a soft-launch, (fingers crossed) and I can't wait for everyone to see why I've been chained to my drawing table. You can see the pic here!

Play Nice!

Atland #270 - Me Tiny Little hands

I've been waiting sooo long to introduce you to some of the characters that populate the Brave Minotaur. Behind the bar, we have "Stinky" Sven -- you'll remember him from episode 22 or so. A character design I've always loved and wanted to use more often. So what the hell? Inky needed a bartender for his inn!

I got the idea for the Garden Gnome while shopping in Mystic CT. There's a Norse store there and in the window they had dozens of garden gnomes in all different poses. It was the perfect fit for the local drunk. Every bar has that one guy who's ALWAYS at the bar. And the fact that I could use garden gnomes as an actual race in ATLAND was too good to pass up.

Next week...horny orcs.

two more illustrations

I wanted to get these up before atland gets posted so i can let everyone enjoy that fantastic story by nate.

hope you enjoy i will be posting more later. click here to see the rest

Eye candy on a rainy day.

This is just one of those places where you know an adventure is about to begin.

I have a lot going on in the real world (all good) but, I did find some time today to do this doodle that's been nesting in the mushy, thought-engine between my ears all weekend.

I'm loving all the activity going on here in Wizard Central. It makes me not feel so bad being an absent Wizard. Kudos my brothers!

Play Nice!

just some fun pieces

I have an assignment that i have to work on for the next week and half and i am allowed to post the artwork. These are one of a kind pieces that are used to clean up my inking a little more. I am also setting them up to be sold at shows. I will post one or so a day just for fun. You can though actually see the whole lot here at

Zyn Dweomer

You know, because I'm working far ahead of where the strips are it is hard to share stuff without revealing what's going to happen. But I do try to post updates on the site and keep a sort of running journal of my progress.

One thing that's great about this is that I'm drawing in a more direct, organic way. Feels good. I hope the results are good too. I know that changing from color to black and white is problematic, I think we see it as a step backward. But I plan to switch up the format of this comic again at some point. I hope to be able to get to a point where I'm telling more concise, shorter stories so that the changes in format can feel as natural as possible. We'll see how that goes!

Atland #269 - A Dark & Stormy Night

AND WE'RE BACK! Did you miss me?

We kick off ATLAND Season 2 with this episode. You'll notice the new format, which provides for a bigger, more legible image.

I drew this episode 6 or 8 months ago, I think. But just this morning, I realized the reaction panel of the customers/employees just wasn't up to snuff. And I had a chance to not only make it better, but include characters that I knew were making appearances later on. Better continuity! (Astute readers will recognize some of these folks from the concept art I posted during the hiatus, as well as a certain bartender from an oooooold strip!

Here's the comparison:

I'm really trying to step up the attention to detail and the coloring. I hope it's noticeable.

Next week...the town drunk makes his move.

Welcome back, guys!

The Beard Master

Zyn Dweomer #57

I’ve been tracking my progress toward keeping a robust daily routine I call “Dragon Hour”. It’s working quite well. I set a target in the form of a percentage of a page I want to complete each day, Mon-Fri. I track it daily and try to keep it above 100%. I know that sounds geeky as hell but it has been an effective way for me to reign myself in and get some real comics finished.

The other element has been switching the format of Zyn Dweomer. It has shifted from a color web strip to a black and white print comic (with pages being posted here, chopped up appropriately). This works for me. I like the look, I’m more comfortable with the style, and I can finish more pages. Plus I’ve always wanted to do a full size comic book series and I’m a self-publisher at heart.

Anyway, it’s going well. I’m over my 100% target at this moment.

Soon I hope to start making announcements about the first print comic. I’ll probably put together a “year one” collection of all the color strips as a sort of issue #0, then follow it up with the first issue of the proper series. The print comics will feature color covers, which I am really looking forward to creating. Also, I plan to include a back-up “worldbook” feature in each issue to give you a sort of classic RPG-inspired catalog of all the stuff that appears in the comic.

Atland Season 2 Previews: Verner VonStadt & Kitty

I can't believe next week is the start of Season 2! I think I short-changed myself one week of the "6-week hiatus". Oh well. No one to blame but myself and my poor math skills.

Are you ready for it? :P

Bish concludes the tale of Nimrond.

More nonsense. Written by Adam Prosser, drawn by me.
