Kind of similar: I read an interview with Johnny Hart (of Wizard of ID & BC fame) where he said that if a gag made you laugh when you first thought of it then you have to trust that it will still be funny once you finish executing it, because by then you will be so sick of it that you just won't see what was funny about it any more.
