You know, I never picked up on the "Gilbert Shelton" influence in your work until you mentioned it. Now, I realize that it's been staring me in the face for years! Being a big fan of the Underground, I'm almost ashamed for not picking up on it.You are da' man,...man.
Yep. I read my first Freak Brothers at 15. This Metal-head kid in the year above me who I was friendly with at school lent it to me. I was getting quite into comics in general at that point reading a lot of 2000AD and Heavy Metal mostly, but reading that Freak Brothers was what really made me realize that comics could be so much more than I thought and made me want to make hitch my wagon to that chicken and ride the Milky Way. Yes,I know them all backwards, but it's actually been way too long since I read one. I see that they have a 2 Volume complete collection out now. It's one of those things where I want to buy it, but I've already read them all so why spend the money. I guess I should remember that dope will get me through times of no money better than money will get me through times of no dope.
You freak!I'm still waiting for the Freak Brothers Movie. :)
